An Outlook That’s Larger than Life for Emmanuel Lewis at 51

Even though it has been over two decades since Emmanuel Lewis made his debut on the hit television series “Webster,” he still receives fan mail. “My home is the only place I can go where I’m not mobbed,” says the ABC series star.

Lewis portrayed a young boy who, after losing his parents, is adopted by his NFL-pro godfather, portrayed by Alex Karras, and his new socialite wife, portrayed by Susan Clark. The show debuted in 1983. The majority of the episode plots centred on how this impulsively married couple had to adjust to their new lives and sudden parenthood, but Lewis’ character “Webster” drove many of the plots.

For his role in the television series, Lewis received four Young Artist Award nominations. Lewis was also the Burger King Whopper’s child spokesperson. In the 1980s, Lewis won three “People’s Choice Awards” and several other awards for the numerous commercials in which he appeared.

The mother of Emmanuel Lewis took him to the doctor out of concern that her son’s peers were growing while she remained the same size. After examining him, doctors concluded there was no reason for his stunted growth.
