Kim Kardashian is finally talking about her ex-husband Kanye West, who has been the anti-Semitic “elephant in the room” for months. During that time, she kept quiet and avoided the subject with short statements and vague comments that never named names.
The Kardashians’ third season started on Hulu on Thursday, and it’s safe to say that a lot has happened between when the shooting stopped right after the Met Gala in 2022 and when it started again in the fall of that year. But if you thought the show would get right to the juicy stuff, you haven’t been watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians for the past few years, because if there’s one thing the famous family loves, it’s filler.
As usual, the show started with a pointless and cringe-worthy scene of the Kardashian family filming a “music video” opener for the show. Kim, Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner were all on rollerskates and wearing different spandex onesies.
“Why wouldn’t we roller skate? We wanted a video with music. Kim said, “It’s fun,” while everyone else sighed.
But while the show may be happy to bore viewers with clearly planned and set plotlines (like Kylie wanting to learn to drive a stick-shift? pass), we respect you, dear readers, far too much to do the same. So, let’s get on with it.
Kim’s relationship situation is one of the biggest differences between Seasons Two and Three. Kim and Pete Davidson broke up just one month before Season Three started.
When producers asked Kim about her love life during a confessional interview, she said, “I’m single and I’m not ready to mingle.” She gave a much deeper answer when she was talking to Khloé and Scott Disick: “Breakups are just not my thing.” And Disick, who is often the voice of reason on the show, said it very well: “Are they anybody’s thing?”
Kim talked briefly about Davidson and didn’t say much about why the two of them chose to break up. “We just had talks and talks. Like, we had been talking about it. So, it was just that we both talked about it really well. “It’s clear that it’s sad,” she said. “I don’t date and hook up with people at random.”
At the time of their breakup, people said that their busy lives and long-distance romance were to blame. But Kanye West also put a lot of stress on their relationship. The rapper famously called out Davidson in a song on his album Donda 2 and went on a rampage against the comic on social media, making fun of his history of drug abuse and mental health problems.
“There was a lot of guilt,” Kim said, referring to West and Davidson’s fight. “Because I was with him, he went through a lot.”
Speaking of West, the first real mention of him and his drama came when Kim joked that her stress was making her psoriasis get worse: “Tell the father of my children to stop acting up, and then I won’t stress out and get psoriasis.”

Now, time is important here. Even though it’s hard to tell exactly when a scene was filmed, because the show is known for putting scenes that were filmed months apart into the same episode to make them look like they happened much closer together than they actually did, it’s safe to say that the first few episodes of the new season would take place between September and December 2022.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably remember that West was basically on an anti-Semitic press tour in late 2022. West started the stream of debate when he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt to his Yeezy fashion show in October.
West didn’t back down from the reaction, so he doubled down on his offensive views and said that the “Jewish media” was trying to silence him and had something against him. After he threatened to go “death con 3” on Jewish people and kept saying the same hateful things on different platforms and in interviews, several companies cut ties with him. JP Morgan Chase, CAA, Vogue, Balenciaga, and, most notably, Adidas, who had a billion-dollar deal with the rapper, ended their relationship with him.
But while West didn’t seem to stop talking, there was nothing from the Kardashian camp. Early on in the debate, Kim sent out a two-sentence tweet criticizing what her ex-husband had said, but she didn’t name him. Kim wrote on Instagram, “Hate speech is never OK or okay to say.” “I stand with the Jewish community and demand an end to the horrible violence and hateful speech that is being used against them.” But there’s nothing else.
On Thursday’s first episode, Kim finally explained why she was so quiet at a time when people were actually begging her to speak up and get tougher with West.

“A lot is happening with Kanye right now. “There are things going on in the media, like radio shows and interviews,” she said at the end of the episode. “Even though everything Kanye says about us is crazy, I never comment or post about it. He came up with the craziest story about Kris and the sex tape. We don’t say anything during all the lies and other things.”
“I think at this point I just assume that everything I text Kanye is going to be put on the internet,” she said. “I feel like I can deal with anything. I feel terrible for my mom because she has to deal with so much. (In more than one Instagram rant, West kept going after Kris and accusing her of forcing her kids to be in “playboy and sex tapes.” He did this because he was afraid that his own kids would be forced to do the same thing in the future.
