The CBI court at Panchkula convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim and his three followers of the murder of journalist . The journalist, Ram Chander Chattarpati was shot dead at his house on October 24, 2002.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is already undergoing a 20-year-imprisonment on rape charges. Now the police has also taken the three convicts: former Dera manager Krishan Lal and the Dera’s carpenters Nirmal Singh and Kuldeep Singh into custody.

The special CBI Judge Jagdeep Singh had pronounced the verdict. Haryanan cops remained on their toes following the judgment. Heavy security was also deployed in Sirsa where Dera’s headquarters are located. However, interestingly, not even a single Dera supporter was present at Panchkula during the court proceedings.
