As soon as Forest Whitaker assumed the role of Bumpy Johnson in the 2019 film Godfather of Harlem, people embraced his interpretation of the renowned Harlem character. Since the show’s inception, Whitaker and the rest of the cast and crew have done an excellent job demonstrating how Johnson was able to maintain his control over the criminal underworld in New York City during the middle of the 20th century, despite facing constant opposition from members of the Italian mafia.
As new actors enter the picture, Godfather of Harlem season 3 hopes to push fans beyond the simmering feud between Johnson and the likes of Vicente Gigante (Vincent D’Onofrio). In addition, Johnson strives to preserve business while assisting the expanding Civil Rights Movement of the time.
