We’ve been following Dr. Shaun Murphy’s tale since the first episode of The Good Doctor aired in 2017 as he worked at the famous St. Bonaventure Hospital in San Jose, California.
The Good Doctor’s fifth season has been delivering surprises on a weekly basis for the past few months, but now May has arrived, and with it, the season’s conclusion.
Season 6 “the Good Doctor” Released Date
Season 5 of The Good Doctor premiered on September 27th, 2021, and has since aired 18 episodes on Mondays. It was reported by ABC when they announced the casting of Larracuente and Welch,
that both actors had already shot their first episodes and that Season 6 would begin in the fall. season 6 of “The Good Doctor” will premiere on November 21, 2022.
The Good Doctor – Season 6 Cast
Cryptic season finale promos hinted at a probable death, as St. Bonaventure’s chief of surgery Dr. Audrey Lim (played by Christina Chang) called for an emergency crash cart for a mystery character. ABC has yet to disclose which cast members will be returning.
Freddie Highmore, Hill Harper, Richard Schiff, Fiona Gubelmann, Will Yun Lee, Paige Spara, Noah Galvin, and Brione Samone Henderson all appeared in Season 5 of The Good Doctor as the show’s other main characters, including Dr. Shaun Murphy, Dr. Marcus Andrews, Dr. Aaron Glassman, and Dr. Morgan Reznick (Dr. Jordan Allen).
Two new recurring cast members, Brandon Larracuente and Savannah Welch, portraying interns Daniel (aka Danny) and Danica, were introduced by the network back in April (aka Danni). As Deadline previously reported, both actors have the possibility of becoming series regulars.
Former Party of Five cast member Larracuente plays a guy “known to captivate doctors and nurses alike, even with his interest in somewhat controversial alternative medicine,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. His coworkers say he’s a bit of a loner and a fascinating enigma outside of St. Bonaventure.
Meanwhile, Danni, a recent Annapolis graduate, is described as “charismatic, ethical to a fault, and competitive both inside and outside the hospital” by Welch. As a veteran of the Navy, she’s “surprisingly comfortable rejecting authority,” according to a source.
The Season 6 Plot of The Good Doctor
Season 5 concluded with the wedding of Shaun and Lea, who had been engaged earlier in the season but had broken up. Dr. Glassman had agreed to perform the marriage following their breakup earlier in the season. She told Parade in March that she’d like to see the couple “go forward in the world,” whatever that might mean, at some point down the line.
When Shaun and Lea first started dating, I was determined to see them get married. According to the actor, “It’s all about patience and empathy.” With both a neurotypical and an autistic partner, I am drawn to the grace that a couple may provide for one other. “My support for them is unwavering, a thousand percent!”
When Asher’s parents arrive up “with a revelation” for him to accept that he and his father may never “fully understand one another,” ABC teased that they would do so in the finale. Another storyline that could continue in the future, pending any Season 5 cliffhangers, including the previously mentioned possible death.
Regardless, viewers can expect to see a steady stream of both happiness and sorrow in the future. It’s important to us to focus on topics and individuals who are real and who are doing their best in the face of obstacles. It’s not always a happy ending, Shore tells Entertainment Weekly in February,
but “hope” is a big part of the show, she says. It is human nature to hope for a happy ending, and in most cases, this is what we get.” But it’s the sad endings that make the great ones taste even better.
