Outlander is a television historical drama series based on Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novel series. The show, developed by Ronald D. Moore, debuted on Starz on August 9, 2014. It stars Caitrona Balfe as Claire Randall, a former Second World War military nurse in Scotland who is transported back in time to 1743 in 1945. There she meets, falls in love with, and marries a gorgeous Highland warrior named Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a tacksman of Gabaldon’s fictionalised Clan Fraser of Lovat, and becomes entangled in the Jacobite rebellion.
The 16-episode first season of the television series is based on the first novel in the series, Outlander. The planned seventh season which consists of 16 episodes, is based on An Echo in the Bone and is set to broadcast in mid-2023. In addition to that, recently, in January, 2023 Starz stated that there will be an eight season of the series which will also act as the final season of Outlander.

The network has yet to notify regarding the release date of Season 8. On top of that, the forthcoming and seventh season of the show is likely to premiere in the mid 2023.
