picard season 3

When Will Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Be Released On Paramount+?

Sir Patrick Stewart’s departure from Star Trek with Picard season 3 is imminent.

In the upcoming season, the Star Trek classic who portrays the legendary Captain Jean-Luc Picard will reconnect with the majority of his Next Generation co-stars.

Season 3, which is presently scheduled to conclude Star Trek: Picard, appears to be a must-see for Star Trek aficionados, with its all-star cast and dramatic escapades.

LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, and Gates McFadden reprise their roles as crew members Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge, Worf, and Dr. Beverly Crusher, respectively, and Daniel Davis reprises his role as the frightening artificial intelligence antagonist Professor Moriarty.

Sir Patrick Stewart said, despite the fact that the amount of great comebacks is sure to excite viewers, that there must be a valid explanation for all the returns.

“I didn’t want the show to be merely sentimental: ‘Oh, we all love each other, and here we are again playing poker and lifting our glasses,'” he told Den of Geek.

“I mean, I adore each and every one of my co-stars on that programme. I cannot get enough of them or see them often enough. But what the writers and producers of The Next Generation have done with Picard is to create a new character inhabiting an unfamiliar environment.

Terry Matalas, the showrunner, has also stated that he aspires for a response comparable to that of The Next Generation.

He told SFX Magazine, “If you want to feel like you grew up with these Next Gen characters, you will see them everywhere. If you’re searching for something a little different, you can also catch up with them in unanticipated ways. But you will without a doubt regain those Next Generation emotions.”

Here is what we currently know about Star Trek: Picard’s third season.

Star Trek: Picard will return for its third and final season in the United States on Thursday, February 16, 2023, with the premiere of the first new episode on Paramount+. New episodes will premiere every week.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 will release on Prime Video in the United Kingdom on Friday, 17th February 2023. Fans in the United Kingdom won’t have to wait too long, since the episodes will come the following day.

Notably, it was unsure whether the next season would continue to air on Prime Video in the United Kingdom now that Paramount+ has also started in this country.

New episodes will continue to be available on Prime Video, it has been verified.

Alex Kurtzman, the executive producer, stated that the third season was planned to be the final, but that this choice could be altered. Seasons 2 and 3 were produced simultaneously.

“When we began the series, Patrick and I discussed wanting it to be just three years, feeling that we could tell a whole tale with the season you’re currently watching,” he remarked (via TVLine).

Nevertheless, everything is conceivable. If a programme blows the doors off, as we absolutely hope it will, and we’re quite happy of season three, who knows?”

Regarding a possible return, Stewart stated, “Absolutely, if we can maintain the work we accomplished in Seasons 1, 2, and 3 of Picard. Because there is still tremendous story potential in what we’ve been doing, and there are still open doors.

“We did not close them altogether.”

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Cast

Amanda Plummer as Vadic in Picard season 3.

Six familiar figures from The Next Generation, including Patrick Stewart in the titular role, are set to return to the Star Trek universe for season 3 of Picard, which is likely to excite fans.

LeVar Burton and Michael Dorn will resume their roles as Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge and Worf, respectively, while Dr. Beverly Crusher will be portrayed by Gates McFadden.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner, who have all previously made brief appearances in the series, will also have parts in season 3. However, showrunner Terry Matalas has indicated that this could be their final appearance.

“I recall viewing the opening of Star Trek: The Next Generation with my father almost 34 years ago as if it were yesterday.” It kindled my passion for science fiction,” he said.

“Therefore, it is only fair that the saga of Jean-Luc Picard concludes with a tribute to his closest and most faithful comrades from the USS Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that it is an honour to give these characters a proper send-off.”

Daniel Davis will also reprise his role as the relatively obscure villain Professor Moriarty, who featured in only two episodes of The Next Generation — in 1988 and 1993, respectively — in an unexpected move.

In a tantalising interaction on Twitter last month, Matalas hinted at additional “top secret” cameos in upcoming episodes.

Expect to see Amanda Plummer (Ratched) as Captain Vadic of the Shrike, Ed Speelers (Outlander) as Dr. Beverly Crusher’s aide, and Todd Stashburn (12 Monkeys) as the captain of the USS Titan.

Several actors from the previous two seasons, including Alison Pill, Santiago Cabrera, Evan Evagora, and Isa Briones, have confirmed their absence from the final chapter, signifying a shift in emphasis to the legacy characters.

In the meantime, a new trailer for the series revealed additional cast members, including Outlander actor Ed Speleers, who would play a series regular “who assists Beverly Crusher’s medical operations on worlds Starfleet has forgotten about.”

Also joining the cast is Todd Stashwick, who will play the USS Titan’s captain.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 plot

Star Trek: Picard

The official synopsis for season 3 reads as follows: “In the epic, thrilling conclusion of Star Trek: Picard, a desperate message from a long-lost friend propels Starfleet legend Admiral Jean-Luc Picard into the most perilous mission of his life, compelling him to recruit allies spanning multiple generations.

This final journey places him on a collision course with his prior history and explosive new revelations that will forever alter the Federation’s destiny.

Stewart told Den of Geek that one of the aspects of Picard’s employment aboard the Enterprise that he loved the most was the frequency of unexpected events. And I believe that greatly energised him.

“In the first season of Picard, he quickly realised that he was still available to anyone in need of assistance or some form of protection, which was the driving force behind his actions during the seven years of Next Generation.”

The canon introduction of the Enterprise-F spacecraft, which has been a fan favourite since its first appearance in the Star Trek Online computer game, is one of the season’s most anticipated events.

In an effort to temper fans’ expectations, Matalas later clarified to Trek Central, “The season does not take place on the Enterprise-F.” It is essential, but it is not the season’s focal point.”
