In 2016, the Rams relocated to Los Angeles. Donald’s season got off to a rocky start when, in the fourth quarter of the opening game, he was dismissed for making improper contact with a referee. Unsportsmanlike conduct fined him about $21,000 four days after the incident. A few weeks later, Donald helped the Rams beat the Arizona Cardinals and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career.

The new terms of the agreement will see him receive $95 million throughout the same time frame. He may earn $31.5 million this year and $28.5 million next year, for a grand total of $60 million. Additionally, $5,000,000 is assured for 2023.
Depending on how he feels in 2024, he can either retire or come back for more. If he comes back, the team has already committed $35 million more to him. With this addition, the grand total is now $95 million. The agreement also contains a no-trade clause. During the next three years, just seven players in the NFL will earn $95 million or more, and they are all quarterbacks.
