Indian politician Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia is currently serving as Minister of Civil Aviation, a role formerly held by his father from 1991 to 1993. He is also in charge of the Steel Ministry. He represents Madhya Pradesh as a member of Parliament in the upper house, the Rajya Sabha. After losing the 2019 Indian general election, he served as a Lok Sabha member for the Guna constituency in Madhya Pradesh.
He has switched parties, having previously been an Indian National Congress member. Former INC member and Minister of State with independent responsibility over multiple ministries in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s cabinet from October 2012 until May 2014. Scindia is the grandson of Jivajirao Scindia, the last ruler of the princely state of Gwalior during the British Raj in India, and the son of the late Indian politician Madhavrao Scindia. Jyotiraditya Scindia was born to Madhav Rao Scindia and Madhavi Raje Sindhiya on January 1, 1971, in Mumbai, India. They consider him to be of the Kurmi Rajput caste. He is the older sibling of Chitrangada Raje Singh, his only sibling. He attended Doon School in Dehradun to finish his education. First, he attended St. Stephen’s College in Delhi, and then he transferred to Harvard to get his bachelor’s degree.

Scindia was appointed to the position of Minister of State for Communications and IT in 2008. Scindia’s father, Madhavrao Scindia, was the sitting MP for the Guna constituency in Uttar Pradesh until his untimely death in an airplane crash on September 30, 2001.
His father’s “secular, liberal, and social justice principles” inspired him to join the INC on December 18th, and he has been a proud member ever since. Scindia won the Guna by-election on February 24 with a lead of over 450,000 votes over his BJP opponent, Desh Raj Singh Yadav.
