Dominique Jones, better known as Lil Baby, is an Atlanta-based American rapper, singer, and songwriter. The songs “My Dawg,” “Freestyle,” “Yes Indeed,” and “Drip Too Hard” by Jones have become his most well-known works.
Early Years
Dominique Armani Jones, better known as “Lil Baby,” entered the world on December 3, 1994, in Atlanta, Georgia. Lil Baby’s father abandoned the family when he was just two years old, and his mother brought him up on her alone. He was raised alongside two sisters but left Booker T. Washington High School after only one year.
A number of accusations, including possession with the intent to sell, led to Lil Baby’s arrest in 2012. The first attorney he hired tried to convince him to sign a two-year plea agreement; the second got him into a program that would only keep him locked up for a year. After getting into a confrontation with another inmate in the program over racial slurs, Lil Baby was forced to return to prison to finish his initial two-year sentence.
He was arrested twice for marijuana use: once in 2013 and again in 2014 for possession with the intent to sell. After spending two years in jail, Lil Baby started his rap career with Quality Control Music and his own label, 4PF (4 Pockets Full).

His Musical Journey
In 2017, Lil Baby released his first mixtape, Perfect Timing, marking the beginning of his career as a rapper. All of Lil Baby’s childhood pals chipped in to make this record a hit, and they did it together.
Later, he said that the mixtape was the result of a two-day effort by himself and his staff. The compilation tape became an instant hit on Atlanta’s underground music scene. Across Georgia, the CD was played in a wide variety of bars and clubs.
Lil Baby’s music received acclaim, and many of his songs drew their inspiration from the hardships he had endured and the time he spent behind bars. He also documented his ideas on the subject of engaging in minor crimes.
After the release of his second mixtape, “Harder than Hard,” Lil’s fame skyrocketed. The song’s words elucidated the mental anguish he felt as a result of his history. Some of the tracks, such as ‘My Dawg,’ ‘Ride or Die,’ and ‘My Drip,’ went on to become chart-toppers.
Currently, Lil Baby is employed by the record company ‘Quality Control,’ which he and some of his boyhood pals co-own.
