Together with her daughter Wynonna, she formed the Judds, a successful musical duo. For eight years in a row, the Judds dominated the three biggest country music award shows and amassed a total of twenty top-10 hits, fifteen of which peaked at number one. Ashley was born to Naomi and Michael on April 19, 1968, but the couple later divorced the following year, in 1972.

On May 6, 1989, Judd married Larry Strickland, a member of the Palmetto State Quartet. Judd wrote about her experience with Hepatitis C in an article for “Everyday Health” in 2014, claiming that in 1995 she was “proclaimed cured of the hepatitis C virus” by Dr. Bruce Bacon, head of Hematology at the University of St. Louis.

About the illness, Naomi said, “I am happy and healthy now, and I am relieved that others can avoid the agonizing years I spent sick and bedridden by getting the virus. My mission in life is to educate others about the value of cultivating a healthy spirit, mind, and body connection as a means to combat the spread of hepatitis C.”
