In 2004, Kay started his radio career at Radio 1, where he worked until 2012 as a presenter of the Saturday and Sunday mid-morning shows. Then, in 2015, he relocated to Radio X where he spent the next two years hosting the mid-morning show.
Ken Bruce, Vernon’s predecessor, described Kay as “a lovely chap and I wish him all the best.”
The mid-morning show on Radio 2 has welcomed Vernon, according to Helen Thomas, the station’s president.
He is a tremendously skilled, affable, and hilarious host who has already established himself as a fan favorite with our listeners by hosting a wide range of programming throughout the station. I am very excited to hear about his fantastic new show.
What Time Will Vernon Kay Be on Bbc Radio 2?
Listeners can anticipate hearing Vernon from 9.30 am to noon when his show debuts in May. Ken Bruce’s successor, Vernon, will take over Monday through Friday’s mid-morning shift on BBC Radio 2.
Many listeners immediately voiced their support for Kay when it was revealed that she will take Bruce’s position on Family Fortunes. One Twitter user remarked, “Congratulations on replacing Ken Bruce, I love listening to you when you fill in for @ZoeTheBall.”
Fantastic news, according to another tweet (opens in new tab). Do people not realize that we, along with the DJs, are in our 40s and 50s and used to listen to Radio 1 when Vernon, Sara, Jo, Scott, and Zoe were on? I adore Radio 2’s lineup, which features the majority of the other shows; it’s a terrific blend.
It appears that some people are already tuned in to Kay’s new radio program.
