Vernon Kay will debut on Radio 2 in May 2023, according to the BBC. The TV and radio host referred to his decision to work for the renowned radio station as “a dream come true.”

When he received the job in February 2023, he remarked, “I’m completely over the moon to be handed the microphone to present the mid-morning program on Radio 2, and what an honor to follow in the footsteps of the magnificent Ken Bruce.

I’m looking forward to sharing some of the world’s best music with the Radio 2 listeners I’ve gotten to know over the past 18 months.

Kay is familiar with the station because she already hosts Dance Sounds of the 90s on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds. He has also stepped in to fill in for Dermot O’Leary, Steve Wright, Rylan, and the morning show with Zoe Ball.

In 2004, Kay started his radio career at Radio 1, where he worked until 2012 as a presenter of the Saturday and Sunday mid-morning shows. Then, in 2015, he relocated to Radio X where he spent the next two years hosting the mid-morning show.

Ken Bruce, Vernon’s predecessor, described Kay as “a lovely chap and I wish him all the best.”

The mid-morning show on Radio 2 has welcomed Vernon, according to Helen Thomas, the station’s president.

He is a tremendously skilled, affable, and hilarious host who has already established himself as a fan favorite with our listeners by hosting a wide range of programming throughout the station. I am very excited to hear about his fantastic new show.
