The modern world is all about technology. There are many companies who have dived into the startup culture. But there are only a few who made it big. It is indeed fascinating to read their stories. The stories tell about how they came up with an idea and started from scratch. Furthermore, the companies have changed the dynamics of our lives. Well, most would say that it is all the boon of technology. But, a technology without a brain is no better. A lot of businesses thrived making their presence in the online market. There are stories about the all. There are stories of how they reached from rags to riches. Similar is the story of Amazon.com. From a store which sold books to now backing companies which make smart glasses; this had been a journey up the hills and valleys.
The story of the rise of Jeff Bezos from a safe and secure job to a risk-taking entrepreneur made a great impact on many lives. The company started with an online selling of books which now stands at $61 billion USD in revenue. This is most probably due to the fact that Jeff has always been inspired by technology. And internet contributed to it. For all this years, Amazon has developed various instruments and devices apart from online retailing. Alexa is one such technology. These AI powered devices are giving competitions to the giants. The incorporation of the Alexa has challenged platforms like Google Assistant and Siri. And now, the smart glasses powered by Alexa will be Amazon’s trump card.
Alexa powered Smart Glasses will blow your mind
The Silicon Valley has always envisioned incorporating technology into wearable gears. This is why there are so many gadgets that have turned into technological brilliance. Now, smartphones and computers are not the only smart devices in the world. The technological advancement has helped in building various gadgets as smart as the computers. For instance, we have smart watches. Smart watches can do anything to everything. This is a prime example of technological redundancy.
But, how did Amazon come up with the idea of Smart Glasses. Well, it is not a big revelation though. The tech giants have been trying to build these glasses for a while now. But, this one by Amazon can bring forth a revolution. You will no longer need to look at your phone. The lens will directly display the information.
Apparently, Amazon backs a startup called North. North, formerly known as the Thalmic Labs, is going to launch the glasses called Focals. The glasses use a holographic display. There is a hidden hologram in the lens. And this will provide all the information in front of you, literally. Unlike the Google glass, Focals are much more ergonomic and looks like a regular eyewear. The best part, it also comes with the prescription lenses.
Features of Focals
There are many benefits that these Alexa powered smart glasses provide you with. However, the functionality is yet to be tested. Amazon is optimistic about the launch in December. In addition to the aesthetics, there are some cool features that distinguish Focals from Google glass which is not greatly received by the consumers.
- Focals come with built-in Alexa which makes the glasses effective. This helps you to get latest news, hail an Uber, control other smart devices, and many more. You can also send text messages to your friends through Focal’s voice-to-text capabilities.
- The smart glasses have calendar. So, you can also mark a date or an event and Alexa will remind you in time. It has a GPS too. So, it can offer you a turn by turn navigation while driving.
- The glasses also come with small rubber ring. It is called the Loop. It consists of 4-directional joystick. Maybe because Amazon wants to keep it simple. Moreover, the case in which the smart glasses come have a great feature. It automatically recharges the glasses.
North has innovated these glasses but it is not the only one in their cart. They are also known to build innovative wristband. The gesture control armband Myo senses motion of fingers and arms and help you play computer games.
Well, the Focals are priced at $999 USD. But, they are comfortable, innovative, and informational. These make the glasses worth the money. Each Focals order comes with the Loop, sun clips, battery case, cleaning cloth, wall plug and a 3 ft. USB-C cable.
