The 2015 animated film Inside Out is widely considered to be among the best of all time. The film, directed by Peter Docter, is about a young girl named Riley (Rebel Wilson), who is nine years old, and her family’s decision to uproot and relocate to San Francisco. The most original aspect of the teen story is the materialization of abstract feelings.
All five of Riley’s emotions (personas) — Happiness, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger — learn to navigate Riley’s internal storms. The feelings depict the child’s ongoing battle to fit in with his new surroundings in the strange city. The girl’s characteristics are reflected in the islands’ names, which include Friendship Island, Family Island, and Hockey Island.
The islands materialize from her newly found interests. People of all ages, from tots to teens, find it fascinating. Numerous discussions of a follow-up to 2015’s Inside Out have taken place since the film’s debut on May 18th. Though it has not been confirmed as of yet, Inside Out 2 could happen if it lives up to the high standards set by its predecessor.
Inside Out 2: Released Date
Disney and Pixar have announced today that June 14, 2024, release date for Inside Out 2 will be in theaters. Recently confirmed at D23 Expo, with Kelsey Mann (The Good Dinosaur) at the helm and Meg LeFauve penning the script. Poehler confirmed, “I read the script and it’s amazing.”
All of the action in the film will take place in Riley’s developing adolescent mind, where a wide range of new feelings is being experienced. The announcement of a summer 2024 premiere date led many to believe that the film would coincide with Disney’s “untitled Pixar movie,” scheduled for release in June 2024. The news released today lends credence to those assumptions.
Inside Out 2: Plot
In the final moments of “Inside Out,” Sadness and Joy are reconciled. Joy started thinking deeply about Sadness after she ran into Riley’s childhood imaginary friend, Bing Bong. There’s a chance that Inside Out 2 will open up a world of new experiences and opportunities.
Riley, now an adult, could show up at either Pixar studio. Perhaps some time will pass. Lacking any specific details, the story is currently unknown. In any case, we expect the film’s second half to feature more inventive moments.

Inside Out Season 1 Review
The originality of the film’s concept is the first thing that will stand out. When compared to other excellent animated films we’ve seen, this one has a cerebral angle (no pun intended) that sets it apart. This approach places the child’s feelings front and center.
At night, while Riley sleeps, the Emotions arrange the spheres of memory that represent her recollections in a neat and orderly fashion. When Sadness accidentally touches a happy memory orb in Riley’s mind on the first day of school, a chain of events begins that ultimately results in Sadness and Joy being sucked out of HQ (which is connected to places like “Friendship Island” and “Goofball Island”) and into a distant part of Riley’s mind. Before Riley’s world completely flips upside down, they need to make it back to base.
When all else fails, anger steps into his element. Extreme caution motivated by a concern for one’s own safety is Fear, while modesty and pride fuel disgust. Riley’s mind is depicted in the most imaginative ways, revealing its many facets.
Simply put, the Memory Dump is a place to store your long-lost recollections. Riley’s mind is like a movie studio, complete with a surreal room representing abstract thought where Riley’s emotions, Joy, Sadness, and an imaginary friend, are given a Cubist makeover and then rendered flatly. Absolutely brilliant ideas.
