3 Brazil players who were a complete disappointment in the world cup campaign
Undoubtedly, the most overhyped and overrated footballer on the planet at the moment. No one could have expected that the Brazilian super starter would stoop down to such levels. Shame!
Once considered as the top contenders for the golden boot, was now being ridiculed for his over-exaggerated performance in the game against Mexico to call for a foul.
Does he lack the talent? No. Was he in need of an Oscar? No. Was his theatrical needed at that moment? No. Can’t he win matches on his own? Certainly yes! Then why did he perform such resort to such rubbish set of acting performances?
People completely forgot his 2 goals during Brazil’s stint in the world cup campaign, following his unhealthy tactics which did stain the spirit of the game to some extent.
It wasn’t pleasing to watch the Brazilian player, who was expected to emerge as one of the greatest match winners in the world cup contests to emerge as a pitiable prospect. Gabriel should have been aware, that by simply running across the football field won’t help a potential striker whose main role is to smack the ball down the nets.
He might have tried to give the rivals a run for their money but in vain. He had no goals to his name in this edition of the cup with just 1 assist throughout the contests. Gabriel failed to capitalize on the opportunities he received to put his football prowess under test.
Coming in as a replacement for Casemiro, he looked like a perfect fit for the job that was entrusted to him. Little did he know, that his inclusion could turn into a horrendous blunder for the Brazil unit.
The fact that he conceded an own goal, too could be ignored to some extent, as their team managed to rise up to the Quarterfinals despite suffering a defeat in that contest.
But, the way he got outplayed in the midfield region, even after having his companion, Paulinho’s presence beside him was a bit shocking for the audience.
He might have been instrumental behind 5 interceptions on the field, but, was a major disappointment of the team with some achievements of 2 fouls, no tackles or clearances under his belt.
