India vs England: 3rd ODI England cricket team player ratings
James Vince- 3/10
Vince was brought in as a replacement for the injured Jason Roy for the final game at Headingley. He might have failed to deliver some pretty big numbers on board, yet, his contribution of 27 runs from as many deliveries helped him put a decent total during the powerplay overs.
Jonny Bairstow- 5/10
The England spectators would have wanted him to stay longer in the middle during the final contest. His hammering knock of 13 balls 30 helped the English team fly off to a stupendous total in the powerplay overs.
Joe Root- 10/10
Undoubtedly, he is one of the greats of the modern era of International cricket. His back to back hundreds came under testing situations. A loss would have severed the English team prior to the 5 match tests against the hosts.
His resurgence onto the scene came at just the right moment for the English team. He now holds the maximum number of centuries in the ODI format by an English cricketer ( 13).
Eoin Morgan- 10/10
The skipper played beautifully throughout the ODI series and especially in the final game, as he and Root tackled the spin duo of Kuldeep and Chahal. There wasn’t a moment when England lost control of the game, thanks to his nerve-wracking effort of 88 runs in 108 deliveries which consisted of 9 fours and a solitary six.
Ben Stokes- 2/10
The English all-rounder yet again had a devastating day at work. In his play of 6 overs, he conceded 43 runs with no wicket under his belt.
Jos Buttler- 6/10
The destructive batsman didn’t receive an opportunity to play in the 2nd innings, as his teammates had done the job for the English team.
Moeen Ali- 7.5/10
He bowled some deadly deliveries in his 10 overs spell which put the Indian team on the back foot. Though Moeen remained wicketless throughout the game, he ensured a dominance over the Indian unit from one end.
Adil Rashid- 10/10
The right arm leg break was just sensational with his play in the final game of the series. His ball of the series left Indian skipper dumbstruck for a moment. In his 10 overs play, he managed to pick 3 wickets which turned the outcome of the game towards the England team.
David Willey- 8.5/10
The all-rounder had a fantastic day at Headingley, as he picked the wickets of Rohit Sharma in the powerplay overs, and the most crucial wicket of Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni in the 46th over, which helped the hosts to restrict the visiting team to put an additional 30-40 runs to the scoreboard.
Liam Plunkett- 2/10
Unfortunately, Plunkett couldn’t emulate his 2nd ODI performances in the decider battle. Instead, he was slammed for 41 runs in his 5 overs of play.
Mark Wood- 9/10
The England pacer made a terrific comeback into the final game after putting up a dismal show in the 2nd contest. He picked up a solitary wicket in his 10 overs play and conceded mere 30 runs in the process. His maiden overs at the start of the innings had set the winning tone for the Englishmen.
As expected, the England vs India,3rd ODI England cricket team player ratings witnessed only minute changes as was in the 2nd game. Let’s see how the hosts fare in the 5 match test series.
