Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s injury already caused many grievances for the Indian team and as per the reports, he would be in no position to play for the first three tests in England. His absence from the side, already helped the England team make massive exploits from the inexperienced Indian bowling lineup, and the damage looks all the more certain to happen from England’s end in the upcoming test series.
Bumrah’s exit added to England’s advantage
What further added to India’s woes during the T20 and ODIs, was the absence of Bumrah’s partner in crime, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar who had to sit out for the 1st and 2nd ODI owing to some recurring back problems. Even, his comeback to the side for the 3rd ODI couldn’t bear any fruitful results.
Though the wrist spinners Kuldeep and Chahal ( Kul-cha) as people call it, managed to instill some fear into the English unit, it still couldn’t help them seal off a victory in the deciding contest as both the spinners remained wicketless in their 10 overs of play.
Any newcomer’s inclusion?
BCCI is to announce the test squad for the upcoming red ball cricket series on Wednesday, and it’s a sure shot that Bumrah wouldn’t find his name on the list.
Chances are, that India might rope in for the services of Mohammed Shami, who looks fit again to be included in the playing XI. Even, Delhi lad Rishabh Pant might get a chance to make a cut in the Indian test unit owing to the fitness of Wriddhiman Saha. Even Dinesh Karthik, who’s presently in England could be asked to don the gloves in the 5 match test series.
Bumrah’s injury puts team India in a scuffle
The 24-year-old had fractured his finger during the T20 games against Ireland and as a result, had to sit out through the T20 and ODI games versus England. His absence would certainly give Mohammad Shami a chance to get back into the scene and form a deadly swing unit with Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.
Though, Mohammed Shami had earlier failed the Yo-yo test which caused his name to be skipped from the ODI and T20 units, as per the present reports, he seems to have cleared it now, and would join the Indian team for the test series.
Not to forget, the test series would feature the experienced spin duo of Ashwin and Jadeja, along with a rare possibility of Kuldeep Yadav’s inclusion to the squad, which could help India form a deadly spin trio, something the cricketing fraternity might not have seen in a recent couple of years.
Kohli on team India’s performance in the upcoming tests
Skipper Virat Kohli seems pretty confident on India performing well in the test matches in the English conditions.
“Our squad is pretty settled. We are really excited to be going into a lengthy test series. It is going to be very challenging, but something that we are looking forward to as a side,” said the 29-year-old skipper when asked about the team’s performance in the 5 match series against England.
