CSK vs SRH , the battle of the giants is probably one of the most anticipated matches of this IPL edition. CSK might have one of the best batting lineups of the tournament but , SRH’s bowling unit has the potential of choking down the opposition batting unit. SRH’s bowling attack has been one of the most talked and fiercest units of this IPL. They have the ability to drain out the run rate of the opposition if and when needed .
With Dhoni once again taking up the mantle of the finisher for their franchise, CSK’s morale is on an all time high. SRH will try their level best to curb down the opposition’s impact to turn the course of the game in their favour.
Let’s have a look at the faceoffs that might happen in today’s game between CSK and SRH
Kane Williamson vs Harbhajan Singh
With Harbhajan leading the spin department for their team , the Chennai based franchise might exploit few weaknesses of the SRH. It would be a mammoth task to pull out Kane Williamson, captain of the SRH , who is currently having a dream run in this IPL season.
Williamson has established himself as a perfect replacement for Warner as the skipper for their franchise. This season he has smashed 493 runs , at an average of 61.62 with a decent strike rate of 135.43. He seems to enjoy playing against the spin . Williamson has amassed 202 runs of the 164 balls he has played against the spinners.
Though Harbhajan is going through a rough patch this season , with only 7 wickets in 9 games that he has played so far, he is a key player in today’s game. With an economy of 7.71 , he can prove very handy especially in the middle overs .
Rashid Khan vs Suresh Raina
The Afghani talent would try to get the better of Raina. Rashid khan , has been phenomenal once again with his bowling prowess. He might create a dent in the CSK’s batting order. He has had some minor changes in his bowling style which has proved highly beneficial for the SRH this season.
But Raina’s not far behind as well. In their first faceoff, the Chennai franchise managed to put up a total of 182 with Raina scoring 54 of those runs. They somehow managed to get an edge over the SRH with a narrow victory.
Raina had smacked the Afghan’s rising talent with couple of sixes and fours . Rashid Khan conceded 49 runs in that game which proved fatal for SRH batting lineup to get over with.
Shikhar Dhawan vs Lungi Ngidi
With Dhawan and Williamson’s heroics in the previous game, Sunrisers were able to manage an easy victory over Delhi Daredevils . SRH heavily relies on their top order for putting up a decent total or chase down difficult targets. Dhawan’s wicket would be a crucial match changer for the Chennai franchise .
Lungi Ngidi will have to closely follow Dhoni’s instincts in order to tear apart the SRH lineup. Coming in as a replacement for David Willey, Ngidi has a lot to prove in today’s game. His battle against some of the experienced players of the format might be very pleasing for the viewers back home.
An economy of 7.81 in 3 games that he has played so far , makes him a player the Chennai franchise can look forward to in this battle of giants.
Sandeep Sharma vs Ambati Rayudu
Dropping Ambati Rayudu might have proved very costly for Mumbai Indians this season. Rayudu’s arrival in the CSK proved a blessing in disguise for him as well for the franchise. His scintillating knocks have helped him amass 435 runs in 11 games with an average of 39.54 and a mammoth strike rate of 151.04 .
Rayudu has been instrumental behind many of CSK’s victory this season. He has helped the franchise to get off to a decent start in many matches, played the role of innings builder and has been the backbone for CSK this season. But he would be facing Sandeep Sharma , who had been brought as a replacement for Bhuvaneswar Kumar.
The SRH bowler has proved beneficial by choking up the runs of the opposition in the early overs . His accuracy , ability to swing the ball both ways has helped him make a spot in the playing eleven. In the 7 games he has played so far, Sandeep had been very economical with his spells with an economy of only 5.37.
Both the teams will go for all guns blazing to emerge victorious in today’s game.
