Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has come in support of the Indian team for their upcoming 5-match test series against England. He feels that Indian batsmen would play a vital role if India is to win in the longer format of the game.
Indian team managed to win the T20i series by 2-1 but suffered an unexpected defeat of 1-2 at the hands of Englishmen in the ODI series. Though the Men in Blue exhibited some terrific set of performances in the T20 contests, they failed pitiably against the same English attack owing to their pathetic batting prowess.
And, it looks like the series of defeats will continue for Team India even in the longer formats of the game.
Can Team India fancy their chance for a win?
Sourav Ganguly, still believes that despite India losing their key players, they still have a chance to win the series by a great margin.
“India will have a chance. They are a good side, if they bat well, they will do well in England. They can win the test series. India has got a big chance of winning.”
“You have to score 400 runs in an innings in test cricket in order to be competitive. If they get 400 runs in the first innings, they will win,” said Dada, as he addressed the reporters at Eden Gardens.
Sourav Ganguly on Dhoni’s ODI performances
In the recently concluded 3-match ODI series, India suffered a defeat of 2-1 at the hands of Englishmen. Many former cricketers and fanatics criticised the gameplay exhibited by the Indian team. Former Indian captain MS Dhoni was even booed by the Indian audience for his ultra-slow innings in the 2nd ODI game.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sunil Gavaskar and coach Sanjay Bangar came out in support for Dhoni in response to the criticism and mockery he received over the social media and by the Indian audience in the cricket stadium.
Sourav Ganguly believes that MS Dhoni would be back into his game during the Asia Cup contest which would be held in UAE.
“I am sure he will get back to scoring runs. Whatever he does, it’s his decision,” said the Former team India skipper.
