SRH became the first team to qualify for the playoffs this season with 9 victories and 4 losses . But , SRH would want to end their two match losing streak against KKR and enter the playoffs on a winning note.
The equation is pretty simple for KKR as well. In order to survive in the IPL battle, KKR need to win tonight’s game against SRH that will seal RCB and MI’s fate in this edition of IPL. A loss for KKR might give RCB or MI to make it to the top 4 on the basis of Net Run Rate.
Let us look at some possibilities that can be drawn for tonight’s battle between KKR and SRH.
Venue : Rajiv Gandhi International stadium , Hyderabad
TIme : 20:00 IST
If KKR bats first : Predicted score 150+
KKR would want to win this game at any cost if they want an entry into the playoffs. A win is all they need at this stage of the game that will be vital to keep their IPL dream living.
But it is easier said than done when competing against the strongest bowling attack of the tournament. SRH has shown some serious content with their bowling unit that knows very well as how to put brakes on the opposition batting attack , dry up the run rate and decimate them to a low total.
Sunil Narine has been a gem of a player for yet another season for KKR. He has been a consistent contributor in the powerplay overs .The dangerous duo of Narine and Chris Lynn would be expected to put up a good total for the team especially in the initial overs.
One major concern has been the form of Robin Uthappa. He hasn’t had a great IPL this season as compared to his previous ones with KKR. Dinesh Karthik has been a match winner for KKR on many occasions. He has been in terrific touch with the bat as well as with the gloves.
Andre Russell’s explosive style of batting is what KKR needs to tear apart the SRH bowling lineup rendering them helpless in the process. Shubhman Gill can also emerge as the hero KKR needs at the moment. His ability to rotate the strike and build up the innings , timed shot selections have garnered him praise from the cricket fans.
With death over specialist Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma and Siddharth Kaul , backed by the spin wizard Rashid Khan , it would be interesting to see how KKR gets the better of SRH.
If SRH bats first : Predicted score 165+
The Hyderabad based franchise will look at entering the playoffs by registering a victory in their final league match. They have already secured the number 1 position for themselves by back to back stellar performances in this IPL edition. Thus they will look to end their losing streak against KKR and diminish KKR’s chances of making it to the top 4.
The kind of cricket the Sunrisers have shown is truly remarkable. They have been a team who could defend any total against any franchise , be it the RCB or KXIP or the defending champions MI.
Sadly , their bowlers let them down in the last 2 games . When it comes to batting , Kane Williamson has been the lone warrior for the Sunrisers. Dhawan and Alex Hales have been pretty decent with the bat in the IPL. Manish Pandey might have scored a 50+ against RCB, he still has been a flop show for the franchise.
The middle order seems to be totally dry for Sunrisers. The team heavily relies on the services offered by the skipper Kane Williamson and would expect him to do the same in today’s game. Yusuf’s absence from the team has also created a void in the batting order of the Sunrisers.
SRH would find it easy to defend any total of 165+ with the likes of experienced players like Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma and Siddharth Kaul.
