Following some over the top cricket performances from the Indian opener Rohit Sharma, skipper Virat Kohli, and the left arm chairman Kuldeep Yadav, Team India managed to conceal a thumping victory over the hosts, in what could be called as an exciting piece of cricketing contest. The 2nd game between the ODI giants is scheduled to be played at the Lord’s, the Mecca of cricket. So, let’s have a look at the Team India predicted lineup for 2nd ODI which would decide the outcome of the ripper contest.
Team India predicted lineup for 2nd ODI at Lord’s cricket ground
Openers- Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma
The duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan was yet again a treat to the eyes of Indian cricket fans as they notched up a scintillating partnership in the powerplay overs. While Dhawan lost his wicket to Moeen Ali, following an electrifying innings of 27 balls 40, his partner Rohit Sharma anchored the innings from one end, and in the process notched up his 18th ODI hundred.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli too looked in a great touch as he scored a crucial 75 of 82 deliveries with 7 bounders under his belt. He would have deeply regretted to have not converted a well deserved hundred, which at one point looked feasible, considering the number of balls the Men in Blue had in their pocket while chasing the total.
Nevertheless, individual performances don’t matter as long as the team’s winning.
A lot has been said about Rahul’s batting position following his performance in the T20i series. While batting at number 3 in the T20i, he had managed to scale a match-winning hundred in the game at Manchester which led to the cricketing legends question his postion in the lineup, and the talks for KL to be promoted up the order at Number 3 became more prominent.
In the game at Trent Bridge, he came onto the crease when only 40 runs were needed to seal off the contest. He finished off with calm innings of 9 runs from 18 deliveries, with Hitman Rohit Sharma on the other end.
He hasn’t been that prolific with the bat in the ongoing series. His part-time bowling came in pretty handy in the previous contest, as he conceded mere 8 runs in his 3 overs spell. It’s time he realises the need to level up his game, or chances are that he might lose out his place.
The greatest finisher of the limited overs cricket hasn’t delivered any awe-striking performance in the series. Though he might not have been very extravagant with the bat, he did manage to break into the record books, by being the architect of some breath-taking dismissals behind the stumps.
Also, he would be having a golden opportunity to get past the 10,000 ODI run landmark at the Mecca of Cricket. It would be one hell of an achievement for sure!
The Indian all-rounder had a pretty bad day at work. He conceded 47 runs in mere 7 overs with no wicket under his name. Yet, he is someone who knows the art of performing in challenging and gruelling situations. What better place than Lord’s to test his all-round prowess!
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar or Siddharth Kaul?
Siddharth Kaul was brought in as a replacement for the injured Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for the 1st ODI contest. Though he was more economical as compared to his colleague Umesh, Bhuvaneshwar’s comeback would eventually cause him to sit out of the remaining ODI contests. Or, it could be Bhuvaneshwar and Siddharth Kaul, with Umesh nowhere in the duel?
The 23-year-old has been an absolute nightmare for the English unit. With 2 single handed victories against the Number 1 ranked ODI team, he has shown the cricketing world how lethal he could be in decimating big units to puny totals. His consistent ODI performances might give him a place in the test team as well.
The Haryana spinner’s performance might have been overlooked, owing to Kuldeep’s mind-boggling number of 25-6 in 10 overs spell. Chahal too possesses the ability to wipe out the oppostion unit mere by his spin prowess.
You do expect Umesh to go expensive on 8 out of 10 occasions, yet, you wouldn’t want to keep him out from any gruelling duel. The reason’s pretty simple, his pace and experience he brings to the table, could surely give the English unit some nightmares under daylight if delivered at the right places.
Following a dismal piece of cricket in the previous game at Trend Bridge, Umesh would certainly look to work on his numbers in the 2nd contest.
let’s hope that the Team India predicted lineup for 2nd ODI is able to match the game’s standards.
