In this article, we’ll explain why your account might have been disabled, what you can do to get it back, and how to keep this from happening again.

Why Was My Google Account Disabled?

I want to recover my disabled google account. yesterday suddenly it got disabled - Google Account Community

There are several reasons why Google has turned off your account. Some of the main reasons are not following Google’s rules and not doing much. But that’s not all. Here are some of the other things that could cause Google accounts to be disabled:

  • Account hacking or hijacking
  • Automatic calls or messages
  • Breaking product policies
  • Child sexual abuse & exploitation
  • Creating a false identity to deceive people
  • Export or sanctions law violations
  • Harassment, bullying, & threats
  • High call volumes
  • Impersonation & misrepresentation of identity
  • Malware, phishing & other harmful activities
  • Sexually explicit content
  • Spamming
  • Terrorist content
  • Use of multiple accounts for abuse
  • Valid legal requests

Google has a set of rules called “terms and services.” If someone breaks any of these rules, we can expect Google to either disable their account temporarily or delete it for good. Also, if you break any of these rules and aren’t aware of them, Google will send you an email 10 days before your account is shut down to let you know. Google will shut down your account if it doesn’t get your attention.

How to Recover a Disabled Google Account

Now that you know why Google shuts down accounts, let’s move on to how to get them back. You can get back into your account in a couple of different ways.

Using Try to Restore Method

  1. Open a web browser and head to sign in to Gmail.
  2. Fill in your Google account usernameemail, or phone number and click Next.
  3.  Enter the password and click Next
  4. If you’re redirected to a logged-in Gmail account: Click on your profile picture at the top right corner and select the Add another account option.
  5.  A pop-up will display that your account has been disabled. Click on the Try to Restore option. (Google will likely mention the reason for which your Google account was disabled)
  6. On the next page, enter the email address of the disabled account and enter an alternative email address. Google will send a recovery email to the alternative email address.

Most of the time, the problem will be fixed right away, and the account will be back up and running within a couple of minutes. But sometimes it could take Google up to two or three business days to answer your question.

Using Request to Restore Your Google Account

If the first method didn’t solve your problems, I suggest you try this one because it’s likely to work.

  1. Open a web browser and head to sign in to Gmail.
  2. Fill in your Google account usernameemail, or phone number and click Next.
  3. Enter the password and click Next
  4. On the next page, under the Account Disabled section, you’ll see why your account was disabled. Click on Learn more which is right beside the message.
  5.  You’ll be redirected to a page that states all the various reasons for Google disabling accounts. Go through these reasons and cross-check if any of the reasons displayed here match what you read on the previous page. (It is highly unlikely that your account will be restored if you’ve violated any of these rules.)
  6. Navigate to Ask us to restore your account heading and click the fill out this form hyperlink or click here.
