How Does Grammarly Chrome Extension Work: Use Cases

We have used the Grammarly Chrome extension to make our work easy for a long time. Before, the extension wasn’t always accurate because it didn’t catch as many mistakes as the website version did.

But because it is always being updated, the application now works very well. Once you’ve put the app on your computer, you might be wondering how it works.

The Grammarly app is great because you don’t have to do anything to use it. As long as you are connected to the internet, the extension will immediately start working.

You can also make your Grammarly app stick by pinning it from your toolbox. This will let you get to the settings whenever you need to without having to look for Grammarly. Tap the puzzle icon in the top right spot. From here, you can click the pin button next to Grammarly.

Now, let’s look at some of the different ways that Grammarly Chrome Extension can be used. We will also look at how you can change the settings and see what choices are available for certain apps.

1. Grammarly For Google Docs

Grammarly For Google Docs

Google Docs is used by a lot of students and workers. Google Docs makes it easy to write and edit your content, whether you want to write an assignment or make a rough draft of your content/email.

If you write most of the time in Google Docs, adding a Grammarly app will be the icing on the cake.

Once you’ve added the app, you can use Grammarly right in Google Docs. You can see Grammarly’s logo and the corrections in the bottom-left part of your screen. It also works the same way it does on the app and the rest of the computer.

Grammar mistakes are highlighted in red, structures that are too long or complicated are highlighted in blue, style is highlighted in purple, and synonyms are highlighted in green. You can tap on the suggested adjustments to make changes or ignore them if you think they are wrong.

Click On Board Icon

Even though the ideas are underlined, not all mistakes are always underlined. But if you tap on the Grammarly button below, you can see the rest of the mistakes. You can also use the built-in plagiarism tool to see if your work has been copied.

Next, you can change the settings by clicking on the board pictured at the top.

Also, keep in mind that if you change the language choices on your Grammarly account through the website, those changes will affect everyone.

2. Google Docs for Gmail

Quick Settings

Because Gmail is a popular platform, we often use it to share and receive emails. No matter what you need to do, Grammarly for Gmail can help you write an email with no mistakes.

The app will be built right into Gmail, just like how Grammarly works on other platforms. You can copy and paste or start from scratch when writing a new text. In both cases, Grammarly will instantly find mistakes and suggest changes.

You don’t have to go to the Grammarly website or app to use the tool, which is one of its best features. Only inside Gmail can you make changes. Also, you can change the settings and make it fit your needs through Gmail.

You can change the settings by tapping the Grammarly button shown below. Next, click the settings icon in the top right part of the window that pops up. Now you can see and change the settings.

This is a great choice for professionals who send a lot of emails for their jobs. You can also save time by rewriting on different platforms. For example, you can start writing your email in the app and then use Grammarly to fix it before sharing it.

If you want to change the settings in more ways, you can tap “all settings,” which will take you to the Grammarly website. You can change all the settings from this page, and the changes will be made to your account. So, keep in mind that if you change the settings on one site, it will automatically change them everywhere else you use Grammarly as well.

3. Grammarly For LinkedIn

Grammarly For LinkedIn

If you make content on LinkedIn or like to post on the platform, you can make sure that your post is finished and free of mistakes before it goes live. With the Grammarly Chrome app, you can now use it on LinkedIn.

The best part is that you can use it not only to make changes to your post but also to send messages on LinkedIn. When you are working and talking to someone about your work, this tool comes in handy.

For example, if you’re talking to a possible client, you don’t want to give the wrong impression by sending a message with grammatical errors and words that don’t fit with your ideas.

Here, the Grammarly app will come in handy. Grammarly will show you where you made a mistake, and you can fix it with one click. After you use Grammarly to check your message, you can send it.

Like Gmail, you can change the settings by tapping on the settings button. You can also turn Grammarly off by hitting the power button next to its icon.

4. Grammarly For Medium

Medium is a great place to show off how good you are at blogging and writing. If you use Medium, you can stop copying and pasting to check for mistakes, which takes a lot of time. Like LinkedIn, Gmail, and other sites, the Grammarly extension for Chrome works the same way.

You can also use Medium to access all the paid tools, such as vocabulary checks, wordy sentences, and more.

Is Grammarly Chrome Extension Reliable?

When Grammarly released a Chrome extension, we chose to try it out. We still use the Chrome app because it helps us get our work done faster and easier.

If you use Google Docs to write, you can see the changes as they happen and make changes right away. But if you didn’t have the Chrome extension, you would have to copy your document and put it into the Grammarly app or website. When you copy and paste a document from Google Docs to a Grammarly website or app, it doesn’t copy tables or images, which is a big downside and a time-consuming job.

So, if you have properly organized your content, you will lose the formatting, tables, and pictures, and you will have to do it all over again. Here, the Chrome application can come to your rescue.

Even though it can be used almost anywhere, it can’t be called 100% safe. As someone who uses Grammarly often, I have run into many problems. For example, when it shows you long, complicated words and offers ways to shorten them, you can see that it either doesn’t change anything or changes the whole structure of your sentence.

Also, we found that the extension didn’t catch as many mistakes as the Grammarly app or website did. Another important mistake in the extension has been found. It may sometimes ask you to change a word by giving you other words that mean the same thing. But these words may not fit with what you are writing or may be out of place.

If you fix your lines based on what Grammarly suggests without double-checking, your content might not be what you want.

At the end of the day, this is a problem that you will find with many other online grammar checks as well. But compared to other online grammar checks, Grammarly can be relied on for fast corrections and proofreading. For the best results, you should still pay close attention when accepting ideas from the Grammarly Chrome extension.

Grammarly Chrome Extension: Is It Free?

Yes. It is free to use Grammarly for Chrome. You can get the free version by downloading the app, logging in, and using it. But for $30 a month, you can switch to the luxury plan. You can use the paid version of Grammarly through an extension, so you can still get the most out of it.
