How to Allow Pop Ups On Mac?

Pop-up windows can help or get in the way. Some websites will only work if you let pop-ups through. For instance, a bank’s website might use pop-ups to show your monthly bills. Some websites might have ads that pop up on your screen.

You can accept pop-ups on certain websites or block them on all websites. If you’re not sure if you want to block pop-ups on a website, you can choose to block and be told when the site wants to show a pop-up. Then you can decide if you want to show the pop-up.

Allow or Block Pop-Ups on One Website

  1. In the Safari app on your Mac, go to the website.
  2. Choose Safari > Settings, then click Websites.
Safari settings for websites, with Pop-up Windows selected at the bottom of the sidebar, and a currently open website selected.
  3. Click Pop-up Windows on the left.If you don’t see Pop-up Windows, make sure you scroll to the bottom of the list.
  4. In the pop-up menu for the website, choose one of the following:
    • Allow: Pop-ups for the website appear.
    • Block and Notify: Pop-ups for the website don’t appear, but when you visit a website with blocked pop-ups, you can choose to show them by clicking the Show button  in the Smart Search field
