When working on a project with Google Docs, you may need to change the usual margins. If you’ve never done this before, it can seem hard to figure out how to change all margins in Google Docs.
If you only need to change the left and right margins, click and hold the small blue triangle on the left and right side of the ruler at the top of your Google Doc, and then drag it to a new spot. It’s important to note that you must drag the blue triangle, not the square right above it. The square on your ruler changes the indentation of a paragraph, not the space between them.)
How To Change All Margins In Google Docs
1. Navigate to Page Setup
Click File and then Page Setup. This will let you set the size of the paper, the direction (portrait or landscape), and the margins for your document.
2. Enter Margin size
Under “Margins,” type a border size in the box next to “Top,” “Bottom,” “Left,” and “Right.” You might want to try out a few different sizes first to see which one works best for your paper. You can always go back and change these settings, so don’t worry.
You could also click “Set as default” if you plan to use the borders often. This will set up your Google Docs account so that every time you make a new document, it will use these settings for the margins. If this is a one-time fix for this document, you should probably skip the “set as default” button.
And that’s it! Hopefully, this will help you create more customized Google docs to fit your needs.
