The customs officials arrested a 30-year-old man, Pankaj Sudwani, at the Jaipur International Airport. He was allegedly trying to smuggle gold into the country by hiding it in his rectum.
He was on a Thai Airways flight. The customs personnel took him into custody after his suspicious “odd behavior”.
During questioning Saduwani confessed that he was hiding six pieces of gold, weighing about 1 kg, in his rectum.
The official said the modus operandi of the gang is that a the consignee’s photograph is with the smuggler — waiting outside the airport — and he has to handover the smuggled goods to that person only. Subsequently, the officials had arrested him and seized the gold. The officials are further interrogating Sudwani.
